Welcome to the web page of the Research and Evaluation Division of
the Society for Family Health, Nigeria. The division is responsible
for providing evidence-based information on programme activities of
the Society for Family Health, and also collaborates with the
government at all levels and other organisations to monitor and
evaluate the impact of programme activities on key national and
state level indicators.
The Research and Evaluation division is responsible for all areas of
research, monitoring and evaluation of programme activities as this
will ensure the achievement of organisational goals. As a service
division in the organisation, we provide input into all programme
interventions of the organisation. The division also provides
information into the national databank of HIV/AIDS, Malaria and
other Reproductive Health indicators for the Federal, and state
governments.
SFH carries out research activities both in-house using staff and
trained consultants, but also uses reputable national research
agencies to carry out large scale surveys. SFH’s research findings
have been published in peer-reviewed international journals and
presented in many national and international conferences, including
the International AIDS Conference, the American Public Health
Association Conference, the Nigerian National Conference on AIDS,
the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA), and
the
International Population Conference of the International Union
for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP).
The division is staffed with personnel with diverse skills and
backgrounds, many of whom have over 5 years experience in both
qualitative and quantitative research. SFH embraces collaboration
with government, research agencies, academia (national and
international) and individuals. The division has conducted a number
of research activities at national level as well as among key target
populations, using state of the art equipment and proven research
methodologies. SFH has been involved in the conduct of the national
HIV and AIDS and Reproductive Health Surveys (NARHS), the Integrated
Bio-behavioural Surveillance Survey (IBBSS), the sentinel survey in
ante- natal clinics, as well as large nationwide qualitative surveys
exploring attitudes among key target populations.
