FOCUS ON YOUTHS

SFH has a strong belief in the youth as a major target group in achieving meaningful impact in health Intervention. The organization uses evidence based research to specially design and develope youth specific activities which have impacted immensely on the youth and their gate keepers. SFH focus on youth can be visibly seen through the interventions carried out at various community levels;

Peer Education Plus (PEP): The PEP model is an evidence-based, theory driven and cost-effective approach to HIV programming. The model was developed by the Society for Family Health (SFH) and ActionAid International Nigeria (AAIN) under the Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV & AIDS reduction
(PSRHH) program in Nigeria

NYSC
: SFH collaborates with the National Youth Service Corps to enforce its intervention targetted at youth through training of peer educators within the scheme. The NYSC programme, which comes up twice a year, is a scheme introduced by the Federal government of Nigeria aimed at giving Fresh Nigerian tertiary graduants opportunities to serve the Nation through a three week paramilitary training camp after which they proceed to do voluntary service for a period of one year.

PLACE
(Priority for Local AIDS Control Effort): PLACE approach is an intervention targetted at street based sex workers and their potential clients. These interventions are usually carried out in hang-outs and places of relaxation in red-light districts.
